Late-Night Welfare Check Leads to Drug Trafficking Arrests

Christian County, KY — On May 11, 2025, at approximately 11:45 PM, Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office initiated a welfare check on a suspicious vehicle parked at the Pilot Gas Station located in the 12000 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard. The vehicle had its headlights and windshield wipers activated, despite the vehicle being unoccupied and weather conditions not warranting wiper use.

Deputies made contact with 34-year-old Amber Williams, of Hopkinsville, who was seated in the front passenger seat. A second individual, 47-year-old Brandon Lee, also of Hopkinsville and the registered owner of the vehicle, exited the store and was also engaged. Both individuals voluntarily provided identification.

While verifying their information, dispatch notified the deputy of an active criminal summons for Williams. She was detained, and during her exit from the vehicle, an open alcoholic beverage container was observed in plain view—leading to further investigation.

A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small baggie containing suspected methamphetamine in Williams’ purse. A further search uncovered approximately 24.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle’s glove box.

Both Williams and Lee were read their Miranda Rights. Based on the evidence, both individuals were taken into custody.

Amber Williams was charged with:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (≥ 2 grams Methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)

Brandon Lee was charged with:

  • Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (≥ 2 grams Methamphetamine)
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, 1st Offense (≥ 10 D.U. Amphetamine)

Both subjects were transported to the Christian County Jail without further incident.
