Felony Haul: Meth, Crack, Gun Found in Traffic Stop

Christian County, KY – A routine traffic stop resulted in multiple charges for two individuals after deputies discovered illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm in the vehicle.

On 05/20/2025 at approximately 4:00 PM, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound On Madisonville Rd after observing metal slats obstructing the rear windshield and receiving a “verify proof” notice for the vehicle’s insurance status.

The driver, 57-year-old Joseph Parrott of Crofton, was unable to provide a valid driver’s license or current proof of insurance. During a consensual search, deputies located a baggie containing a crystalized substance suspected to be methamphetamine on Parrott’s person. Additional suspected methamphetamine and a glass pipe with residue were found inside the vehicle.

Parrott was charged with:

  • Obstructed Vision and/or Windshield
  • Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance/Security (2nd Offense)
  • License to be in Possession
  • Failure to Produce Insurance Card
  • Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine)
  • Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess

The passenger, 54-year-old James Bush of Hopkinsville, was also removed from the vehicle after exhibiting behavior consistent with impairment. A search of Bush’s person revealed a metal pipe with burnt residue, a white rock substance suspected to be crack cocaine, a small amount of suspected marijuana, and a single .22 caliber bullet. A loaded .22 caliber revolver was also located near his seat.

Bush was charged with:

  • Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Cocaine) – Enhanced
  • Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Possess
  • Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
  • Possession of Marijuana – Enhanced

Bush was also served an outstanding warrant for Felony Probation Violation.

Both individuals were transported to the Christian County Jail.
