Traffic Stop in Hopkinsville Uncovers Drugs and Paraphernalia

Hopkinsville, KY – On July 15, 2025, at around 9:29 PM, Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle on East 9th Street near South Clay Street after noticing it had no illuminated taillights and a license plate frame obscuring required information. The vehicle pulled into a gas station in the 600 block of East 9th Street.

Deputies approached the driver, identified as 33-year-old Willie Trawick of Hopkinsville, and detected the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Trawick admitted marijuana had been smoked in the car earlier. During a search, deputies found a marijuana joint wedged between the driver’s seat and center console. A black and pink bag on the front passenger floorboard contained marijuana in a zip-loc baggie, cocaine in several baggies, empty zip-loc baggies, two cut straws with drug residue, and a scale with drug residue.

Trawick was arrested and charged with:

  1. Failure to Illuminate Head Lamps
  2. Rim or Frame Obscuring Lettering or Decal on Plate
  3. Drug Paraphernalia – Deliver/Manufacture
  4. Trafficking in Marijuana (Less than 8 oz.), 1st Offense
  5. Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Less than 4 grams Cocaine)

Trawick was booked into the Christian County Jail.
