On August 24th, 2026, at 4:54 am deputies received a call from a man claiming someone armed with a gun was on top of his vehicle while he was going down the road on Interstate 169.
The driver, 33-year-old Sammy Contreras of McAllen, Texas, told dispatch he was in a truck but was found driving an SUV during a traffic stop on Interstate 24.
He claimed he had smoked meth two days before, and a glass pipe along with a bag of suspected meth were found in his vehicle.
He was arrested and charged with failure to or improper signal, possession of meth, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
