On September 22nd, 2026, at 12:12 am deputies were called to a wreck with possible injuries just before Exit 9 on Interstate 169 northbound.
While responding to the call, deputies were told 23-year-old Carlos Chester Jr. of Hopkinsville showed up at the hospital with two gunshot wounds, one in his knee and the second in his back.
Deputies located his truck that was northbound in the median. The truck had at least four bullet holes in the driver’s door.
Chester was flown to a Nashville hospital due to his injuries.
The crash and shooting are under investigation, and traffic was blocked on Interstate 169 in the area while detectives collected evidence.
