Pedestrian Stop Results in Methamphetamine Arrest

Christian County, KY — On May 11, 2025, at approximately 2:45 PM, a CCSO Deputy observed a pedestrian, later identified as 42-year-old John Curtis Jr., crossing East 9th Street outside of a designated crosswalk near the Marathon gas station (East 9th Street). The unlawful crossing caused a passing vehicle to brake suddenly in order to avoid a collision, in violation of Kentucky Law.

Curtis Jr. continued into Peace Park, where the Deputy made contact with him regarding the traffic infraction. During the encounter, Curtis Jr. displayed suspicious behavior when asked about contraband and subsequently produced a container holding a substance identified as suspected crystal methamphetamine.

Curtis Jr. was arrested without incident and transported to the Christian County Jail.

He was charged with the following:

  • Hitchhiking/Disregard Traffic Regulation by Pedestrian
  • Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
