Driver Arrested for DUI with Child in Vehicle

Christian County, KY — On the evening of May 13th, 2025, a Christian County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle observed driving recklessly near Birchwood Drive. The driver was seen swerving into the opposite lane of traffic, creating a hazard for other motorists.

A 10-year-old child was also inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Upon contact, the driver, identified as 32-year-old Deaudrey L. Civils of Hopkinsville, showed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail.

A breath test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of over twice the legal limit. Due to the elevated level and the presence of a minor in the vehicle, the DUI charge was enhanced under Kentucky’s aggravated circumstances statute.

Civils was taken to the Christian County Jail, charged with:

  • Reckless Driving
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence – Aggravated Circumstance (1st Offense)
  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
