CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY — A traffic stop Monday evening led to multiple drug-related charges and the arrest of a wanted man.
Around 6:30 p.m. on May 19, Deputies were in the area of Hillside Terrace looking for 42-year-old Michael Keeling of Bowling Green, who was wanted on felony drug charges. The residence was known to law enforcement as a location tied to suspected drug activity.
Just after 6:40 p.m., two vehicles left the home. One of the vehicles committed several traffic violations and was stopped near Sanderson Drive. Inside were three people, including Keeling.
Keeling was taken into custody on his active warrant, charging him with Possession of Meth and Drug Paraphernalia. During the stop, deputies and a K-9 officer with the Hopkinsville Police Department searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine, marijuana, Gabapentin pills, used needles, and drug paraphernalia.
Keeling and the driver, 48-year-old Benji Cunningham of Cadiz, were arrested, both charged with trafficking meth, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Both were transported to the Christian County Jail.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Hopkinsville Police Department for their assistance during the stop.
