The Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with AT&T, is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying individuals involved in the theft of telecommunications wire and equipment.
Deputies have recently responded to several reports involving stolen telephone wiring and thefts from cell-tower sites. Damaging or stealing communications infrastructure can disrupt essential services, including residents’ ability to contact emergency responders.
AT&T has established a tip line for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for damaging, destroying, or stealing critical-infrastructure equipment. A reward of up to $10,000 may be available.
AT&T Tip Line: 800-807-4205
If you observe suspicious activity near telecommunications equipment, do not approach or confront anyone. Note the location, vehicle description, license plate, and direction of travel when it is safe to do so, then contact local law enforcement. Call 911 or the non-emergency 270-890-1300.
