On September 17th, 2026, at 8:28 pm deputies were called to Peach Street for a disturbance involving 25-year-old Devin Buttrum of Hopkinsville.
As deputies arrived, Buttrum was seen driving a van and drove back to the home at a rapid speed, making a neighbor who was in the driveway jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
After further investigation, it was found that Buttrum had assaulted his pregnant girlfriend by throwing several things at her, striking her with a closed fist, wrapping his hand around her throat, hitting her with a grill in the stomach, and throwing an open pocketknife at her.
He damaged several items in the home and her phone before she got away and went to a neighbor.
Buttrum hit a vehicle in the driveway when he was attempting to leave and admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana.
She was checked out by Hopkinsville EMS but did not want to be taken to the hospital.
Buttrum was arrested and charged with first-degree assault – domestic violence, second-degree strangulation – domestic violence, interfering with communications, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
