Man Charged With Drug Possession And DUI

On October 5th, 2026, at 12:54 am deputies stopped to check on a vehicle in the emergency lane on Interstate 24 eastbound at the 89-mile marker.

The driver, 49-year-old James Goode of Hopkinsville, was found to have a bag containing three pills, a bluish powder on the truck’s floorboard, and an open alcoholic beverage container.

He stated he had approximately three shots and showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.

He was taken to the hospital before being taken to jail.
